Issue Position: Crime Policy Safety and Crime Policy

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2013

Many of the issues related to crime are associated with young men of color. Over the last several years,
fatalities resulting from gun violence in the City of Chicago were greater than the number of American
soldiers killed in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Security and safety of everyone, especially young men of
color, is an essential catalyst for our economic advancement and progress. As Congressman, I will
promote safety and crime prevention at all cost. I purpose the following:
1. Early intervention and mentoring programs
2. Athletic and academic programs
3. Arts and music programs
4. Crime Prevention Task Force
